Once Upon A Time Tiny –¬†Finally, after three long weeks, Once Upon A Time is back! When we last left off, Rumpelstiltskin/Mr. Gold realized that he wasn’t going to be able to get Belle to remember him, so he goes to Emma and demands that she go with him to find his son (called it before, calling it now: it’s going to be Henry’s dad). When he arrives to get her, she informs him that she isn’t leaving Henry behind in Storybrook — he can get both of them or neither of them. Reluctantly, he agrees and off they go. Poor Mr. Gold…watching him go through the airport is so sad — especially when they tell him that he has to take off Bay’s cloak. He’s in a constant state of fear that he’ll lose his memory, and he is completely without magic, now that he’s outside of Storybrook (seemingly for the first time since he became The Dark One). The three of them do make it onto the airplane with all of their memories intact, although it’s clear that Rumpelstiltskin does not like feeling so defenseless, with his magic gone. I feel really bad for him. This adventure had better end with him getting his son back.

Back in Storybrook, Snow and Charming (whose real name, we learn this week, actually is David) find out that Regina has come out of hiding, and they go to find Hook and use him to find Cora. He doesn’t help them find her, but they do manage to get him to take them to his ship. Once there, they find the giant that Emma encountered while she and Snow were trapped in the Enchanted Forest. He’s been shrunken down to fit on the ship. I’m not sure why Cora did this, or when she had a chance to. That may or may not be explained later. They free the giant and he immediately punches David in the face.

We learn in the Enchanted Forest storyline that this giant once loved humans. He loved them so much that when he grew weary of being teased by his Giant brothers for being the runt of the family, he decided to go down to the surface world. He discovers there that he is too small for giants and too big for humans, and he doesn’t fit in anywhere. Before he has a chance to turn around and go back up the beanstalk, he meets Prince James (Charming’s twin brother) and his current girlfriend-of-the-week, Jackeline…or Jack. Catching on yet?

Jack and James give Anton the giant a piece of Wonderland mushroom to help him shrink down, and they take him into town for a drink. There they ply him with sob stories about how he kingdom is going bankrupt and they’d love for Anton to be able to live there, but they’re about to suffer through some pillaging to settle the kingdom’s debts. If only they had some magic beans to sell and settle their debts. Anton denies having any magic beans (although this is what the giants do, is grow beans) but he would be happy to bring treasure back for them. They thank him and he returns to his beanstalk to collect the treasure. As he’s about to return with it, they climb to the top of the beanstalk too and proceed to wreak all sorts of havoc while trying to steal the beans. Anton prevents them from getting the beans, but he fails to save the other giants. Jack dies in the fight and James escapes with no beans, but a lot of treasure. Left alone, Anton’s trust in humans is broken.

Back in Storybrook, Regina gives Anton some Growing Mushroom and he chases David, Snow, and Grumpy the dwarf through the town. He’s too heavy for the ground, however, and falls through just as his mushroom wears off. Seeing that the tiny giant is in danger of dying, David mounts a rescue mission to keep him from falling to his doom. The two make amends and the town welcomes Anton with open arms. He is given a room at Granny’s, and offers to use his last bean sprout to help farm beans to take everyone home. The dwarfs offer to help and they give him an axe, which dubs him Tiny (the same name that his brothers used to call him, before they died. The axe always knows).

Even with a certain way home in front of her, Snow still isn’t sure that she wants to go. She fears that Emma won’t go with them, and her family being separated again is the last thing that she wants
