I’m the first to admit that I’m old my taste in music often shows this.  I can’t stand heavy metal, rap or jazz.  I was quite concerned to find out that Nick’s band (I took a sneak peak on YouTube) was a rap(ish) band.  I LOVE Nick and I LOVE Ghost Adventures.  Being the devoted fan I decided to go to their first concert (which was at Scarefest, Saturday September 29, 2012 at roughly 9:00pm).  I went with a closed mind and closed ears but with full support and fan love for Nick and what he loves to do.  That being said…I didn’t hate it LOL.  I didn’t love it…and barely liked it…but yeah, it wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be.  If I were a fan of that type of music I think I would have enjoyed it.  They did a song (I only recorded 1 song because my battery was running low), I didn’t get recorded, that had a great blues ring to it.  That song, I liked!

Nick and the other members of his band really know how to work the crowd and really seem to appreciate their fans.  They seemed VERY at home on the stage with lots of smiles and Nick, more than once, left the stage and came out into the crowd.

Okay, funny story…right at about 1:45 a guy comes up on stage.  This was not the first or 2nd time Steve and I had encountered him that day.  There was a nice bar (nice to look at but really REALLY crappy service with really REALLY grumpy employees) in the convention center.  Steve and I often took breaks and hit the bar for food, water, drinks, etc.  We were sitting at the bar (Bourbon Barrel for Steve & I had a Coke) were sitting at the bar halfway watching the replay of a Giants game.  Steve was on my right and a girl was 3 seats to my left (2 empty seats between us).  Steve is at the corner of the long side of the bar, then an empty seat around that corner and then a “should have stopped serving him 2 drinks ago” guy.  This guy (oddly enough, NOT the guy in the video but I’m getting to it…I’m getting to it) starts kind of slurringly flirting with the girl to my left.  She eventually moves to the seat between Steve & the drunk guy.  She seems kind of shy…I was actually surprised that she moved down there because she was pretty soft spoken.  I didn’t eavesdrop too much but, well, the Giants game was going on behind them so I picked up a little hear and there.  The only thing I really caught was that she was in town for Scarefest from freaking Oregon!  He asked why she was there alone and she said because her friend hadn’t been able to make it.  I don’t know what took place after that but “should have stopped serving him 2 drinks ago” guy left.  After that she asked if we would watch her drinks while she used the restroom.  When she came back we had idle chit chat with her asking if we were there for Scarefest, asked where we were from, she talked about having been last year, and the movies she likes.  I talked to her about blogging for Chatty Entertainment and I gave her website and my email…it’ll be fun if she shows up here…you guys will already know a bit about her LOL.  About 2 minutes later the guy at 1:45 in the video stumbles to the seat next to her.  Apparently, he thinks she’s like 3 rooms away because he’s YELLING at her.  Not mean yelling just talking really REALLY loud!  Steve, being the amazing gentleman that he is kind of hung close and I kept talking off and on so he wouldn’t think she was alone and it would also give her an “out” if she wanted out of the conversation.  Somewhere in all of this 2 nice guys sit next to me and we chat off and on.  What?  What can I say?  Steve & I are likable people and are comfortable talking to anybody 🙂  Anyway, 1:45 guy asks the girl if she wants to hear a joke…we butt right in saying we would like to hear it too.  It was HORRIBLE and LOUD about some piccalo player in church.  We, laughingly, let the guy know it’s a bad joke.  Oddly enough, the 2 nice guys….remember them?  Well, not the one sitting next to me but the one sitting next to him come and stand between Steve & Oregon girl’s chairs and informs us 1:45 told the joke wrong and he tells it.  You know what?  It was still bad LOL.  At this point, Steve & I are ready to head back to the Scarefest.  I catch eyes with the girl and kind of tilt my head in that “Want an out?” way and she does.  I nudged Steve and he addressed both us that it was time to go.  She gladly took her out.  So that was story #1.  Number 2 was before Nick came out.  Steve and I were standing in the area for VIPs and people with a press pass.  1:45 guy walks up on the stage and sits at the drums.  (Oh, at this point, we’re no longer with Oregon girl).  I elbowed Steve “HEY!  That’s the guy from the bar!  Is he in Nick’s band?”…like Steve would know but, AS OF NOW, we both kind of think he might be with the band and is tuning the drums or whatever it is you do to drums.  THEN it becomes obvious that he is NOT a part of the band.  We keep looking for somebody to shoo hime from the stage and it eventually does happen.  So when he popped up on the stage during Nick’s show my mouth hit the floor.  I was torn because at this point you kind of had to admire the guy for still being able to be upright at all…let alone be able to dance.  However, the biggest part of me was kind of pissed because he kind of stole a little thunder from Nick’s first concert…and even in the first song.  You know what?  I made that story too long.  It’s my blog…I can do that 😛

Harry Houdini Seance Video

Harry Houdini Seance Video

This is a seance that took place at the Scarefest in Lexington, KY on September 29, 2012.  It was held at the Lexington Convention center by Aron Houdini.  I believe I heard that Harry is Aron’s distant great uncle…I don’t know what “distant” means LOL.

The seance is in 2 parts…sorry about that.  We started out holding my iPhone and then decided to place it on the table.  The time between the 2 is less than a minute so you don’t miss anything.  The seance, as far as I can tell by the naked eye, was uneventful.  HOWEVER, I haven’t watched the video…it would be cool if there was something there!

IN THEORY, on the table was a lock, 2 set of handcuffs, a photo and money from Houdini’s wallet the night he died, and a pair of Houdini’s baby shoes.  Aron also had 2 assistants.  One assistant was wearing a necklace the belonged to Houdini’s mother and the other that had been given to Bess by Harry.  Personally?  I don’t believe anything on that table belonged to Houdini…but I don’t know.

About 5:45 into the second video Aron picks up the bell in his mouth and rings it.  None of us know the point of why he did this.  Prior to the seance starting he told us that he would be doing something near the end of the seance, we would see him do it and we would know it was him.  We didn’t know what he was going to do…honestly, I thought it would do a magic trick and disappear or something.  Nope, he picks up the bell with his mouth and rings it and then jerks his head to 1 side to throw it.  He never explains why.
